MISSION STATEMENT
Kirkwood exists to promote the development of youth in our community through participation in a variety of athletic programs. Our goal is to provide activities that offer recreational, social, and physical development for children of all skill levels. We are committed to providing participants with the opportunity to develop athletically and personally in a positive, supportive, and safe environment. Kirkwood encourages and promotes ethical and moral behavior, good sportsmanship, community involvement, and good citizenship.
OUR COMMITMENT
Our commitment started in 1974 to provide our community a place where children could participate in soccer programs that reinforced our mission for youth development in our region. Partnering with New Castle County to secure a site as a base of operations, we continued to expand over the years to offer a multitude of programs for those seeking a higher level of coaching and play.
In 2020, we established a mutually beneficial agreement with BPG and Sporting Delaware to bring our longstanding travel soccer program into their family of sports teams for a professional management experience with world-class facilities and coaches at the helm. This has quickly brought Delaware to the upper levels of soccer with both boys and girls teams receiving national recognition.
Our partnerships have continued to evolve to offer additional sports outside of soccer such as field hockey via Delaware Sharks. Lacrosse has also been a main staple on our grounds with many organizations renting our facility for both recurring and tournament play.
Our future will continue to focus on expanding our recreational sports offerings and enhancing our existing partnerships to modernize this long-standing facility.
